High performance 8-channel digital-to-analog converter
The CS4308S is an 8-channel, 32-bit resolution audio DAC supporting sample rates of up to 768 kHz. The CS4308S’s proprietary filtering adapts to preserve clarity and tonal accuracy across sample rates of 44.1 kHz to 768 kHz, creating a consistent sound that stays balanced independent to the content users are playing. Compared to alternative solutions that rely on specialized low-noise supplies, the CS4308S achieves 118 dB dynamic range without added BOM cost and complexity. Operating at 13 mW/ch, the CS4308S is optimized for high audio performance without compromising power efficiency or cost.

The CS4308S should be selected when:
- Synchronizing multiple audio output channels is required.
- Limited engineering resources are available to design your audio product.
- Low latency (4.5/fs) is required across multiple channels.
- You would like to achieve multiple distinct audio signatures from a single DAC, utilizing selectable digital filters without hardware changes.
The CS4308S should not be selected when:
- An integrated headphone or lineout driver is required. In this case the CS43131 should be considered.
- An SPI interface is required for the input audio data.
- A single op-amp stage is required for cost/size reasons. In this case the CS4332S should be considered.
- Designing a battery power product with a small form factor (TWS headsets, mobile phones). In this case the CS43131 should be considered.
- Greater than 120 dB of dynamic range is required. In this case the CS4308P should be considered.
The primary application for the CS4308S is Digital Mixing Console. The CS4308S is placed directly after a FPGA/DSP or MCU converting digital audio, via the audio serial port (ASP), to analog audio. This analog audio feeds into conditioning circuitry to drive Line/Headphone and speaker outputs.
Additional relevant applications include: Digital mixers, USB audio interfaces, musical instruments, audio DACs, networked amplifiers, audio IO peripherals, effects processors, home audio receivers and home video receivers, effects processors, professional loudspeakers, high performance home speakers, portable MP3 players, wired and wireless headsets.
